Privacy notice for launch updates

This notice explains what happens to your information when you sign up for launch updates from Empathy Finance on this website. Empathy Finance is in development, and this notice covers only the waitlist.

What we store

Your email address.
The language you chose for our emails.
When you agreed to receive launch updates, and which version of the consent wording you saw.
When you confirmed your email address.
Where on the page you signed up, such as from the top of the page or from the form at the end.
When you unsubscribe, if you do.
Whether our confirmation email was sent, so we can try again if sending failed.
A one-way code made from each link in our emails, so we can recognize the link when you use it. We don’t store the links themselves.

Why we use it

To email you a link to confirm your address and, after that, updates about the Empathy Finance pilot and launch, in the language you chose.
To keep a record that you agreed to receive launch updates and confirmed your address.
To learn which parts of this page lead people to sign up.
To keep the waitlist free of automated sign-ups and repeated attempts.

We won’t sell your data.

Checks when you sign up

To check that a person, not an automated program, is signing up, Cloudflare Turnstile looks at information from your browser and your IP address. Our service also uses your IP address to limit repeated attempts.

Who processes it

We use external providers to help deliver the service. We explain what information they process and why.

Cloudflare hosts this website and the service that receives your sign-up, runs the Turnstile security check, and sends our emails.
Supabase stores the waitlist database.
Fastmail delivers the messages you send to support@empathyfinance.net.

How long we keep it

If you don’t confirm your email address, we delete your sign-up 30 days after you sign up.
If you unsubscribe, we delete your email address 30 days after you unsubscribe.
If you use the delete link, we erase your email address from the waitlist right away.
If you confirm, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or delete it.
Backup copies of the waitlist database, ours and our database provider’s, are deleted after at most 14 days. Until then, an email address we’ve deleted from the waitlist can still be in a backup.

Your choices

Every email from us has a link to stop launch updates and a link to delete your email address. You can also write to support@empathyfinance.net to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it.
